Oh to be one of the really ridiculously good looking people. To put on a bikini that resembles a few pieces of strategically placed string and have people scream in ecstasy instead of howling with laughter... However no complaint about bikinis in bars from this corner, as long as it’s not me that is near naked.

So it was I was relegated to the Judges table – probably the second best place in the house for surely the best job in the room must go to compeer un-extraordinaire, Sam Small. His glib lines and witty repartee are infectious and it must be hard for the hotties to ignore his charms!

Don’t let NAUGHTY thoughts invade your Woodstock addled cerebellum either readers I merely surmise this as he has the totally horrible task of interviewing these model types on stage. Merely inches between himself and some of the country’s hottest bikini babes – what a crap job...

Enjoy the images from this year’s Miss Ralph NZ National Final. The Jolly Farmer Drury was host venue with heats held there and at Finnegan’s Irish Bar Royal Oak. Judging was difficult to say the least and while bikini circuit veteran Gale Chan may have secured another title for her bikini belt (which was about all she was wearing), there are definitely several contenders on the way up. To Ralph, whoever and wherever you are, thank you for giving us this night of bikinied bliss.

Make sure you get to the Jolly Farmer 29 April and Finnegan’s 6 & 13 May for the 2010 Bikini Model Search. It was bigger than a really really big thing and promises to eclipse whatever that was this year.

Dane the Great

DANE Rumble launched his debut album The Experiment to a packed Studio on K’ Rd in April and Naughty were in the house. Unlike the debacle which was our appearance at the Netherwood fundraiser (see page 15) we managed to annoy semi-famous types without getting banned from the venue this time!

One time front guy for partially-seminal 1990’s hip-hopsters Fast Crew; Dane has made the cross-over into the realm of pop successfully and has a new wave of fans (and a lot of older ones) eagerly chasing him down at every opportunity. A couple of days before the launch party he received un-buyable media coverage by throwing himself off the Sky Tower in downtown Auckland, landed on the stage below and performed a set with full band blasting across Victoria Street.

Even with all the hype created by his label, Let The People Speak, the album is an awesome testament to the class of writing and performance here in Godzone. Like label-mates, Midnight Youth, this is an album set to be on playlists for a long time to come and my pick for Pop Album at the NZ Music Awards later this year. Another group to watch over the next year is support act Ivy Lies who have their own legion of fans and are nipping at the heels of contemporaries like The Veronica’s and Avril Lavigne.

Tonight though is Dane’s ultimate achievement since going solo and he deserves it. Thanks for posing for pictures and the free beers Dane – we would have said nice things without getting us drunk – but it sure was a nice gesture!! -StuHefner

Jackels Diary - April 2010

I am currently planning a show that is going to blow the South Island away – if the wind we are expecting this winter doesn’t!

It will merge live music with hot chicks in bikinis - who doesn’t like music and models? Thing is, I had no idea how stressful it was putting together something like this! Keeping everyone happy is such a mission, but so far everything is coming together. There is a fearless monster in me that will not let me give in to the pressure!

The show features NZ’s Playmate of the Year, Kelly Windsor, which I am really excited about. I am hoping to learn from watching her doing her thing on the catwalk but I’m sure most people will be checking out how damn gorgeous she is. Another sizzling babe I have secured the services of is Zoo Model Chloe Whiting. She is doing pole tricks – the pix of which will feature in the June Naughty Guide so make sure you get your perve on next month as well.

My own crew from ShamelessModelling.com will be showing their luscious bodies from tip to toe in bikinis that will leave you speechless and we also have a performance from the Kings of Kiwi beat-boxing. The amazing Trikky & Fluent will be laying down their own freestyle beats using nothing more than their mouths and microphones. Just wait till you wrap your ears around these guys! Anyway, I’ve included a few pix of some of the models you will see and Christchurch are you ready for this? I’ll have a date and venue for y’all soon…
